The biggest barrier between someone wanting an AZ career and starting MELT training is usually cost. The good news: there are more funding paths today than there were even five years ago. Below are the options we walk students through during their initial consultation.
Amazon Career Choice
We're a registered Amazon Career Choice partner, which means current Amazon associates and their dependents can have their tuition paid directly through the program. Eligibility starts after 90 days of continuous employment, and the program covers full vocational training fees. If you or a family member works at an Amazon facility, this is the first conversation to have.
Second Career (Better Jobs Ontario)
Better Jobs Ontario, formerly known as Second Career, is a provincial program for laid-off workers retraining for in-demand careers. Commercial truck driving consistently ranks on Ontario's in-demand list. Approved applicants can receive funding toward tuition, books, transportation, and basic living allowances during training.
Payment Plans
We offer monthly payment plans that split tuition into manageable installments — typically over the course of training plus a few months afterward. This is the option most of our students who self-fund choose, and the terms are flexible based on your situation.
The Tax Deduction Most Students Miss
Our courses are tax deductible as tuition expenses on your federal return. We issue a T2202 tax slip for the calendar year in which your training was paid. Many students recover a meaningful portion of tuition the following spring when they file. Talk to your accountant, but make sure you keep your T2202 — it's worth real money at tax time.
What About Carrier-Sponsored Training?
Some carriers advertise 'free' AZ training. In almost every case, you sign a contract committing to drive for that carrier for 12 to 24 months at lower-than-market wages — often without choice over your route or schedule. The math rarely beats funding training yourself and entering the job market with options. We cover this trade-off in our enrollment consultations so you can make the call with eyes open.
